Waste and recycling collections following the early May and Coronation bank holidays

Household waste and recycling collections will be rescheduled around the early May bank holiday and during the week following the extra bank holiday for the King’s Coronation.

This year, collections scheduled for Monday, 1 May (the early May bank holiday) will take place early – on Saturday, 29 April. This will enable collections to run as normal throughout the rest of the week, causing less disruption to the majority of residents.

During the week beginning Monday, 8 May, following the King’s Coronation, all collections will take place one day later than their scheduled day.

Peter Tonge, Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Director of Communities, said: “With the extra bank holiday for the Coronation, we have holidays this year on two consecutive Mondays. However, we have tried to limit the need for rescheduling as much as possible by introducing an early collection on Saturday, 29 April for households who would normally have their waste collected on Monday, 1 May.

“Many of us will be taking part in celebrations over the weekend of the Coronation, but we encourage residents to avoid creating additional waste wherever possible during this time, and to make full use of their recycling bins and food caddies.”

There will be date changes to waste and recycling collections for each of the bank holidays this year. To find out how this affects you, visit the council’s online collection calendar.

For residents who are not online, call 01684 295010 and we will send you out a paper copy of your collection calendar.
